What should I do if I see something weird online?

Tell a trusted adult.

Using the internet responsibly:

When you are using the internet at home or at school it is very important that you stay safe.

Your teachers and parents will have talked to you and shown you how to stay safe when using the internet on the computer, an Ipad or a mobile phone.

If you are worried about anything you see on the internet talk to an adult who you trust.

Whether you are worried, scared or upset about anything at all, there is someone out there to help you.

Reporting problems on social media:

Social networks should always be a fun, safe place where you can chat with friends and share stuff. Cyberbullying (online bullying) on social networks can happen to anyone at any time.

It can be really hard if you’re struggling with friendships on social networks or when playing games online. Usually the first thing to do is block the person upsetting you and report them to the website, however every social media site is different.

If you need some advice talk to a trusted adult. This could be your parents or other family members or your teacher at school. There will always be someone who will listen to you.

Things you can do to get help:

  • report the person who is bullying you
  • block the person from contacting you
  • take a screenshot of the bullying
  • talk to an adult you trust
